MKEC was the local representative/ business developer of CNEEC - China National Electric Engineering Co., Ltd. during the bidding process for an air-insulated substation namely New Lahore 500/200kV grid station which had seven transformers of 250MVA and it was the first ever project of its kind having a Substation Automation System Technology. The project was awarded to CNEEC and contract was signed between NTDC and the CNEEC on June 12, 2012. The mega project started functioning in Phoolnagar on 1st November 2017 and shares the load of existing 500kV Lahore Substation besides evacuating the power from Baloki Power House. It gave relief to the 220kv New Kot Lakhpat-1 and 2 grid stations, 220kV Ghazi Road and several distribution grids of 132kV in Lahore and the adjoining areas.
